Description
ASTMA653/A653M G90 750mm-1250mm Galvanized Steel Sheet Regular Spangle
ASTMA653 is an American standard, equivalent to Chinese standard Q195 or SGCC. The standard specifies requirements for the surface quality and finish of the galvanized or galvannealed steel sheets. This includes the absence of defects, uniformity of coating, and smoothness of the surface.ASTM A653/A653M steel sheets are commonly used in various applications, including construction, automotive manufacturing, appliances, electrical enclosures, and general fabrication. The galvanized or galvannealed coatings provide excellent corrosion resistance and durability, making them suitable for outdoor and corrosive environments.

Application
1. Construction
When sheet metal such as steel has undergone the galvanization process, it can enjoy a wide variety of construction uses, such as awnings, building frames, fences, industrial walkways, and the like.
2. Metal fittings
Galvanized steel sheet metals can also be applied in conjunction with other types of metal fittings, such as nails, nuts, and bolts. These types of applications are typically used in order to further add another layer of support to different types of metal fixtures.
3. Kitchen and home appliances
Aside from the purpose of adding a layer of support, galvanized sheet metals can also be used in various types of kitchen and home appliances. Though much emphasis was placed on the applications of galvanized steel sheets, it should be understood that sheet metals can be produced using copper, aluminum, or brass. In particular, galvanized aluminum sheet metals enjoy extensive applications when it comes to the manufacturing of fan blades.
The applications of galvanized sheet metals are something that people would do well not to overlook. It can be utilized in the production of construction materials, kitchen appliances, or even automotive parts – the list is endless.
Main Features
Before being coated in hot molten zinc, or being painted, sprayed, or electroplated, steel sheets are first cleaned in a degreasing solution. After this, it is immersed and allowed to rest in a container of hot dilute sulphuric acid. The steel is then cleaned with an aqueous solution of zinc, ammonium, and chloride. All these steps ensure that the steel doesn’t get contaminated in the long run and that the coat of zinc properly sticks to it. Even after the galvanization process, the end product is thoroughly checked for gaps or inconsistencies.
Galvanized steel sheet is resistant to rust and corrosion which makes it an ideal kind of steel sheet to be used in areas where there is a really high chance of oxidation or rust. It is also quite an affordable steel sheet type to be used, mainly because of its low manufacturing cost in comparison to other steel sheets, and also because it can be used directly, i.e. without any further preparation or treatment. Quite like the other galvanized steel product, galvanized steel sheets last for years and years to come, which makes it quite a beneficial steel sheet.
FAQ
Q1: How long can I expect my galvanized steel project to last in service?
A1: Hot-dip galvanized steel resists corrosion in numerous environments extremely well. It is not uncommon for galvanized steel to last more than 70 years under certain conditions.
Q2: Does the galvanized steel coating of zinc resist abrasion?
A2: The three intermetallic layers that form during the galvanizing process are all harder than the substrate steel and have excellent abrasion resistance.
Q3: What types of products can be galvanized?
A3: Numerous different fabrications for a variety of applications are galvanized each year. To view a list of the different types of products that have been hot-dip galvanized click here.
Q4: What is a G90 or A60 coating?
A4: G90 is a grade of galvanized sheet produced to ASTM A653. It has 0.90 oz/sq. ft. of zinc overall or 0.45 oz/sq. ft. per side. A60 is also a grade, has 0.30 oz/sq. ft. per side, and has been annealed after galvanizing to produce a surface that promotes good adhesion of paint.
